Book review

It is safe to state that to date historiographical base in Russian on the topic of interest to us almost completely absent - theoretical information about the specifics of horror movies have to collect the crumbs in various monographs and collections of articles, periodicals, on the pages of Internet resources. This work is dedicated to the definition of the genre of horror and its genesis, in fact one of the first cultural studies on this topic. It is important to realize that the horror is not an invention of Hollywood (unlike westerns, for example), this genre has its roots in the XIX century and is genetically associated with Gothic Victorian tales (England) [300]. There is a connection between literary tradition and as the horror genre cinema, development of horror films is the most smoothly where there a corresponding literary basis, providing continuity of scenes. Suffice it to recall that much of the usual viewer imagery owes its origin to such literary classics as Mary Shelley ( "Frankenstein", 1818), its less famous contemporaries John William Polidori ( "Vampire", 1819) and, later, Bram Stoker ( "Dracula ", 1897).
