In this concluding volume the emphasis is, again, laid on a pedagogical approach. Among other topics, the book deals with the following: a reminder of classical dispersion theory, susceptibilities from an onharmonic oscillator model, Maxwell's equations with nonlinear terms, examples for the microscopic derivation of susceptibilities, second and higher order harmonic generation, frequency mixing, parametric amplifier and oscillator, stimulated Raman and Brillouin scattering, self-focussing, photon echo, self-induced transparancy nonlinear wave propagation, giant polaritons, multi-photon absorption, nonlinear spectroscopy (Doppler free spectroscopy), etc. The effects are mainly treated by semiclassical theory, but, where necessary, the fully mechanical treatment will be also developed. The most recent developments are included.
